Van Halen had a huge impact on the way Rock music devolped throughout the 80's. Van Halen was a pop/rock band from Pasadena, California. The original members of the band are Eddie Van Halen on lead guitar, David Lee Roth on the mic, Alex Van Halen on drums and Michael Anthony on Bass. The band's first album self titled was released in 1978. This band left a huge mark in the history of rock and roll. First off the hair of the guys in the band influenced many other performers during that time. They were one of the first bands to do that. Another big thing was Eddie Van Halen. This man was a musical genius and phenom. His style of playing guitar was copied all throughout the 80's and on. People today still use many teqniques that he basically showed to the world. Something else they contributed was David's frontmanning. He would jump around the stage and do tricks. This influenced peoples shows because now they would dance around after seeing this man.

Metallica

Metallica was formed in California during the 80's. Their distorted guitars, thrashing drums, and powerful vocals nearly defined the genre "speed metal". They are believed to have retrieved heavy metal from the past to the 80's. There band includes lead vocalist James Hetfeild, lead guitarist Kirk Hamett, drummer Lars Ulrich, and bassist Cliff Burton. These young musicians strongly influenced rock music during the 80's. For example, Kirk Hamett's heavy guitars solos and extremely quick finger work effected a plethora of guitarists worldwide. An extremely large number of guitarists were attempting metallica guitar covers and guitar techniques.
